Oooey Gooey Pizza Rolls:
Wanted to test out this delicious looking recipe from The Gunny Sack for dinner tonight. Needed something easy as it has been a busy (and frazzling) week. I also wanted something that Lily could help me make to keep her entertained before bedtime. This fit the bill perfectly!
Super easy to make, lots of kid friendly steps, and soooooo yummy. I made a few alterations based on what we had in the house, but the spirit is the same.
What you need:
2 Rolls of buttermilk biscuits (10 per roll)
Pack of pepperoni slices
Roll of sliced mozzarella (or whatever cheese you’ve got would probably work)
1 egg (beaten)
Parmesan
Italian seasoning
Garlic powder (didn’t have this so used garlic salt)
Dipping sauce (I used some 5 cheese pasta sauce we had in the house)
What to do:
Preheat oven to 425°F
1) Flatten biscuits (toddler friendly {TF})
2) Place stacks of pepperoni and cheese on biscuit (TF)
3) Gather edges of biscuit together and pinch (~TF, depends how neat you want you rolls)
4) Place rolls in greased pyrex pan
5) Brush rolls with egg (TF)
6) Sprinkle with italian seasoning, parmesan, and garlic powder (TF)
7) Bake for 18-20 min.
Enjoy with sauce of your choice!
Lily was in 7th heaven getting to help out in the kitchen and this was just the perfect recipe for her little 2 year old hands!
Next time I might try adding a little more cheese, and some chopped veggies in the rolls (bell peppers, mushrooms, & olives would be tasty). This would also be delicious with sausage instead of pepperoni. So many things to try!
